Breaking News: Five Injured in Neighboring House Fires

A 53-year-old woman was in critical condition and four other people suffered injuries after a fire at two hillside homes in the 16500 block of Las Casas in the early hours of Thursday April 13, said Margaret Stewart of the Los Angeles Fire Department. The fire was reported at 2:14 a.m. in one home as it spread down the hill to its neighbor. The conditions of the four injured, including a 90-year-old woman, a 67-year-old man and two girls aged 17 and 14 were unknown, but a pet cat died in the fire, said the spokesman. It took 88 firemen to bring the fire under control in 44 minutes.
