BREAKING NEWS: Palisades PRIDE to Withdraw Parklet Application
After more than a year of controversy over a proposed parklet on La Cruz Drive, Palisades PRIDE has announced it is withdrawing its application for the parklet. In an email dated Aug. 19, Pacific Palisades Community Council (PPCC) president Chris Spitz had requested a definitive response from PRIDE president Geoff Shelden and/or Valerie Watson of the Los Angeles Department of Transportation (LADOT) whether PRIDE would withdraw its application for the parklet or LADOT would refuse to give final approval in light of what Spitz called a lack of community support for the project. Today, Shelden informed Spitz that “PRIDE is withdrawing our application for the Parklet and we will be seeking an alternative site.” Spitz will make an official announcement at this week’s PPCC meeting on Thursday, Aug. 27 at 7 p.m. in the Palisades Branch Library.
