BREAKING NEWS: Palisades Fire Remains Listed at 1,325 Acres, Arson Suspect Arrested
The Palisades brush fire, which first started in a remote area off Michael Lane and Palisades Court Friday at 10 p.m., remained listed at 1,325 acres Monday morning with 0% containment, but has "grown some," according to Mayor Eric Garcetti during a press conference that began at 10 a.m. The updated figure on the size of the fire is expected later today.
An arson suspect was arrested around 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 16, and is receiving medical treatment. Los Angeles Fire Department Chief Ralph Terrazas said during the conference "we feel we have the right person."
Evacuation orders remain in place for Zone 4 and Zone 6 in Topanga, and Topanga Canyon Boulevard remains closed between Mulholland and Pacific Coast Highway.
