Subject: It's World Refill Day today! 🥳

Happy World Refill Day, brand audit leaders!

Did you know that 2022 will mark our 5th year of global brand audits? Thanks to your participation, we are able to use the data to escalate public pressure on the world's top plastic polluting companies. On World Refill Day today, hundreds of Break Free From Plastic members like you are demanding that the five biggest plastic polluters commit to transparent, ambitious and accountable reuse and refill systems.

In an open letter addressed to the CEOs of top plastic polluters The Coca-Cola Company, PepsiCo, Nestlé, Unilever, and Procter & Gamble, signatories from the BFFP movement are urging companies to move their reputations from “big pollution” to “big solution” by urgently committing to the following actions:

🔍

REVEAL the full extent of their plastic footprint if they do not already do so. This is a core part of accountability and essential if corporations are to reduce their plastic footprint. Reporting should be per single-use plastic item, as well as by weight.

📉

REDUCE the amount of plastic they use by setting ambitious, transparent targets, and supporting action plans on how to achieve them. Then, prioritize achieving those targets.

💡

REINVENT their packaging to allow for refill and reuse. To do this, they should commit to collaborating with other companies to standardize reusable packaging and build shared reuse systems and infrastructure.

UP NEXT: In 2022, brand audits are going BIG.

This is our 5 year anniversary, and there is so much to celebrate - and so much still at stake. We have a big opportunity this year to gather data that can help support the Global Plastics Treaty. That's why we need everyone to participate in this year's brand audit! Stay tuned for our new brand audit website coming out soon 😎 Until then, you can explore the current resources and start planning your brand audit with our toolkit here.

Thank you for all that you do to help end plastic pollution! Together, we are powerful 💪

In Solidarity,

Sybil Bullock
