#WeChooseReuse hands over campaign signatures to European Commission and European Parlament

#WeChooseReuse Marks Major Campaign Milestone With Signature Handover

On the 12th October 2022, #BreakFreeFromPlastic members handed over signatures collected by the #WeChooseReuse campaign to European Commission Vice President Frans Timmermans and Member of European Parlament Fréderique Ries. In total, 100,875 individuals, 165 NGOs, 295 businesses and 34 municipalities signed the #WeChooseReuse commitment, demonstrating the need for EU policy that matches the growing demand for reuse systems across Europe.

New Case Study: Africa Anti-Incineration Series, Community Resistance in Drakenstein, South Africa

As the waste problem increases within African municipalities, governments are often presented with false solutions to the waste management crisis. One of these false solutions is Waste-To-Energy incineration. This case study tells the story of how communities in the Drakenstein Municipality in South Africa

successfully resisted the threat of a municipal incinerator through a number of creative tactics.

Join: Zero Waste Academy - Asia Pacific

#BreakFreeFromPlastic members Global Alliance for Incinerator Alternatives and Mother Earth Foundation have opened the applications for the Zero Waste Academy - Asia Pacific Cohort 2022-2023. Participants will undergo an immersive training program designed to equip them with the knowledge and tools to implement and promote Zero Waste programs in their communities. The

program will feature online lectures, virtual and in-person study tours, simulations, literature, and case studies from across Asia Pacific. The application period will end on October 30, 2022.
