Toxic Pollution: Living with Microplastics

In this powerful story from Indonesia, explore how microplastics have become an unavoidable part of daily life, contaminating the air people breathe, the food they eat, and the environments they call home. For many communities, pollution is a constant threat to health, livelihoods, and dignity.

The article, with data from ECOTON and other environmental organizations, highlights the human cost of a plastic-dependent system that leaves communities with few choices but to live alongside waste and its toxic impacts. As plastic production continues to grow, it underscores the urgent need for solutions that go beyond waste management and address the crisis at its source: reducing plastic production and accelerating a transition to reuse-based systems.
