Big Blend’s Spirit of America Magazine tells the stories of our diverse country - our people, flora and fauna, wilderness areas, and history. These stories are all protected and preserved within the 413 units of our National Park Service. They are there for us to witness, experience and learn about. Our parks are America’s treasures, and along with their gateway communities and surrounding public lands, are ideal destinations for families and school groups, friends and loved ones, nature lovers and history buffs, travelers and outdoor adventurers – for everyone!
This winter issue covers national park travel from the mountainous northwest to the coastal and inland areas of California, and out to the rugged and dramatic southwest. There are plenty of adventure stories and interviews focusing on history, art, books and film, as well as wildlife and environmental issues. We also shine the spotlight on the importance of kids and families getting out and exploring parks, and share some fun books and programs to help spark the flame of national park interest.
