 Dear Friend:

"Who will gainsay that the parks contain the highest potentialities of national pride, national contentment, and national health? A visit inspires love of country; begets contentment; engenders pride of possession; contains the antidote for national restlessness.... He is a better citizen with a keener appreciation of the privilege of living here who has toured the national parks." Stephen T. Mather
From exploring the mountain paradise of Mount Rainier and spending quality family fun time at Missouri National Recreational River, to getting awe-struck on a stroll in a forest of the world’s largest trees, bird watching in England and in the wetlands of Southern Arizona, and going coastal in San Diego, this issue of Spirit of America Magazine celebrates summer outdoors in our parks and public lands.

Along with nature, history takes center stage, stretching from California to Nevada, Texas to Louisiana, Alabama to Georgia, Oklahoma City to Kentucky, and beyond.

This issue also covers the arts, volunteering, trail safety, and the commitments made to conservation and preservation.

Speaking of commitment, we have long been advocates of getting outdoors and getting some fresh air and taking a walk!

As you page through the magazine, you will see a number of suggested easy one hour walks, as well as quick 60 second video spotlights on walks and destinations.

Additionally, we started a brand new #OneHourWalk Facebook Group and we’d love you to join us! It's all about sharing photos and positive, healthy experiences from getting out for a #OneHourWalk and it can be a walk anywhere! As our friends at SuperCamp say, it's about unplugging to "Plug Into Life!"
