 Dear Friend:

“In three words I can sum up everything I've learned about life: it goes on.” Robert Frost (March 26, 1874 - January 29, 1963)
We hope you are all staying safe, healthy, and finding some bright moments during this quarantine. As we mentioned in our last newsletter, we are currently stationed just next to Joshua Tree National Park, where we’re staying with our friend Jerri Hagman, owner of the historic Homestead Inn in Twentynine Palms, California. Right before the main shut down happened in California, we managed to get out and visit nearby Mojave Trails National Monument as well as Amboy Crater, a National Natural Landmark (pictured). It was beautiful with wildflowers, rugged and dramatic desert scenery, and it was just great to be out in fresh air, while maintaining social distance.

Amid this quarantine, we are now broadcasting daily Big Blend Radio shows, and have started a new Big Blend “Garden Gossip” Community Group. Come join us and share what’s growing in your garden, neighborhood, patio, or even kitchen window. Studies have shown that just an hour surrounded by nature (or even viewing scenes of nature) can reduce anger, depression, and stress, which in turn boosts the immune system, reduces heart rate and muscle tension and lowers blood pressure. Researchers have found that even having a plant in a room can help reduce stress and anxiety.
