Our ceramic classes are perfect for anyone with little or no experience. We’ll focus on everything from the basics of wedging, centering, and throwing on the wheel, to making forms off of the wheel using pinching, coiling or slab building. Come learn a new skill or revisit an old hobby with our fun hands-on classes!

Morgan Peterson's Artist Talk

Don’t miss Morgan Peterson’s FREE artist talk at the Belger Glass Annex (1219 East 19th St., KCMO) on Thursday, March 10 (6-7 pm).  Currently a member of Dale Chihuly’s team, she’s known for her thought-provoking, large-scale glass sculptures, referencing themes of pop culture and true crime stories. Her talk will cover the themes and techniques that are unique to her work. 

Make Your Own Glass Egg

Make your own glass egg at the Belger Glass Annex (1219 E. 19th St., KCMOon Saturday, April 16!  


Whether given as ornamental Easter gifts, used to darn socks, or on farms to encourage chickens to lay eggs, glass eggs have a long history as decorative and utilitarian objects. This Easter weekend we encourage you make your own glass egg to give as a gift or to add to your Easter decor.


Get a feel for what it's like to blow glass as professional glass blowers guide you through the process of adding color and shaping molten glass. Finished pieces will be ready for pick up at Belger Crane Yard Gallery as of Thursday, April 21. Reservations are $50 per person and open to all experience levels. Participants under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.

Glassblowing Classes

Join our Glass 1 and Glass 2 classes to build upon your fundamental glassblowing skills at the Belger Glass Annex (1219 E. 19th St., KCMO).


The Glass 1 class covers glassblowing tools and hotshop equipment and the basics of gathering glass, blowing a bubble, basic shapes, and even how to add color to your creations.


In Glass 2, you will learn new color application techniques and how to use tools like the sophietta, newspaper, and parchoffis. You will also learn how to work the glass hotter and make the glass thinner. Glass 1 or equivalent is required before signing up for Glass 2.

Date Night

Bring a fun friend or sweetheart to a Date Night Pottery Class at Belger Arts Center (2100 Walnut, KCMO). Learn to throw on the wheel, decorate what you make, and we'll fire and glaze it. Your finished work can be picked up one month after class. Date Night happens every Friday and Saturday through March! Classes sell out quickly, so don't delay!
