Kansas City, MO--Known for translating overlooked, dot patterns into vibrant, functional ceramic works, Meredith Host’s newest exhibition features a body of work inspired by her 2014 artistic residency in Jingdezhen, China. Her time in this internationally-renowned capital of porcelain, influenced her making process, allowing her to experiment with scale, new motifs, and color palettes.

Artist Biography:
Meredith Host was born and raised in Detroit, MI. She received her BFA in Ceramics from Kansas City Art Institute in 2001 and her MFA in Ceramics from The Ohio State University in 2008. Her work has been exhibited nationally and featured in a number of print publications, including Ceramics: Art & Perception Technical, Ceramics Monthly, Graphic Clay: Ceramic Surfaces & Printed Image Transfer, and 500 Prints on Clay. In 2011 she was named Emerging Artist by Ceramics Monthly and the National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts (NCECA). Currently Meredith is a full-time studio potter in Kansas City, MO. Her designs are inspired by her collection of “overlooked, domestic patterns” found on toilet paper, paper towels and other paper products. She celebrates their ubiquitousness in the context of other domestic objects meant for daily use.
