FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Kansas City, MO— Belger Arts is pleased to announce Digital Debut: Emily Young, March 6 - April 30, 2020.  Young's online debut goes live Friday, March 6, 2020, on the Belger Arts website.

Emily Young’s digital debut features a selection of new ceramic vases, cups, mugs and plates featuring animals depicted within layered, glazed vessels.  Young’s narrative themes and influences are derived from her interests in culture, fables, theology and her personal experiences.  “I’m interested in themes involving animals as metaphors for darker aspects of interpersonal relationships,” Young said about her work.

Young creates richly detailed black stoneware and white clay vessels utilizing sgraffito, a technique of carving into clay similar in quality to creating woodblock prints.  Her narrative imagery portrays predatory and prey animals such as snakes, birds, wolves and rabbits both individually and in confrontation with one another.
About Emily:
A native of Kansas City, Young received her B.F.A. in ceramics from Emporia State University.  Young is currently a Belger Crane Yard Associate who works in the Crane Yard Clay Supply Store.  She recently began teaching “Date Night” classes at Crane Yard Studios, and is also  an instructor at Driftwood Ceramics, Kansas City.
