Make Your Own Experiences

Sign up for our monthly "Make Your Own" experiences at the Belger Glass Annex and get a feel for what it's like to create with molten glass.

  • Feb. 8 - Glass Heart: Make a glass heart to give as a Valentine’s Day gift or bring your sweetheart for a unique date experience.

  • April 12 - Glass Bunny or Bird: Pick your favorite springtime critter and add a little whimsy to your desk or a spring basket.

  • May 10 - Make Your Own Wavy Vase: Treat the mom in your life to a memorable glassblowing experience.

Glass Classes

Sign up for winter and spring classes at the Belger Glass Annex.


Beginner Classes:

  • Glass 1  - Learn how to gather molten glass from the furnace, add a bubble to the glass, and shape glass using traditional tools and techniques.

  • Coldworking 1  - Learn to use fundamental cold shop tools including the belt sander, flat lap, diamond saw, and lathe. Coldworking uses "cold" processes such as cutting, grinding, and polishing glass to finish a piece or add decoration. 

Intermediate Class:

  • Coldworking 2 - Builds on coldwork skills and introduces additional skills such as cutting glass into different shapes and assembling glass using adhesives.

Belger Crane Yard Gallery (2011 Tracy Ave., KCMO)

Caroline Landau
Thursday, February 6 at 6 pm

Landau’s work is featured in the exhibition Materialize: Visualizing Climate Change, on view at the Belger Crane Yard Gallery from February 7 through May 3, 2025. Her glass work, Prometheus (pictured here), is an example of her process that involves creating blow molds and blowing glass into them to replicate specific structures and objects tied to ecology and nature.

Anne Yoncha
Saturday, February 8 at 2 pm

Yoncha’s work is also featured in the exhibition Materialize: Visualizing Climate Change, on view at the Belger Crane Yard Gallery from February 7 through May 3, 2025. Her studio research combines experimental art and ecological science. Learn about her visual and sonic Peat Quilts, her creative practice, and more.

Visiting Artist Jason McDonald

APRIL 28 – MAY 2, 2025

Jason McDonald is an Oakland-based glass artist with a passion for Venetian furnace glassblowing techniques. This Netflix’s “Blown Away” contestant is a Windgate fellow and the Belger Glass Annex’s 2025 Visiting Artist.


Public Events with Jason McDonald:

  • A free artist talk on Wednesday, April 30, from 6 pm to 7 pm at the Belger Crane Yard Gallery (2011 Tracy Ave., KCMO)

  • A free glassblowing demonstration on First Friday, May 2, from 6 pm to 8 pm at the Belger Glass Annex (1219 E. 19th St., KCMO)

  • His SOLD OUT masterclass will be open to public viewing on April 28 from 10 am to 12 pm; April 29 from 9 am to 12 pm; and May 1 from 9 am to 12 pm.
