Watch modern-day masters at work! Join us for "A Legacy of Making," a special two-day demonstration workshop featuring Kansas City Art Institute alumni John Balistreri, Chris Gustin, and Matt Long. - John Balistreri, best known for his large-scale sculptures based on airplane and boat forms, is a pioneer in 3D ceramic printing techniques. He has obtained two patents related to this research.
- Chris Gustin's biomorphic vessels explore the movements of breath and sound. Recently, Gustin recorded his voice speaking into a vessel and used the sound wave's pattern to create 3-D printed objects.
- Matt Long takes clay to its extreme, squeezing it with great strength to reveal something gentle. His intimate, functional vessels reflect Long's interest in surface, kiln atmosphere, and form.
