Subject: NCECA Pre-Conference Workshop: Balistreri, Gustin, and Long

Watch modern-day masters at work! Join us for "A Legacy of Making," a special two-day demonstration workshop featuring Kansas City Art Institute alumni John Balistreri, Chris Gustin, and Matt Long.
  • John Balistreri, best known for his large-scale sculptures based on airplane and boat forms, is a pioneer in 3D ceramic printing techniques. He has obtained two patents related to this research.

  • Chris Gustin's biomorphic vessels explore the movements of breath and sound. Recently, Gustin recorded his voice speaking into a vessel and used the sound wave's pattern to create 3-D printed objects.

  • Matt Long takes clay to its extreme, squeezing it with great strength to reveal something gentle. His intimate, functional vessels reflect Long's interest in surface, kiln atmosphere, and form.
You won't want to miss this opportunity to learn from each artist at work, observing the techniques and skills that have helped define a new legacy of making.
