Bryan Czibesz & Shawn Spangler: Object Index opens this Friday, February 5, from 6 to 9 pm at the Belger Crane Yard Gallery (2011 Tracy Ave., Kansas City, MO 64108). Object Index is a collaborative exhibition that investigates how culture and technology are implicitly tied through the production of ceramic objects. Using hand-forming processes and digital reproduction technologies, Bryan Czibesz and Shawn Spangler recreate historical forms in a contemporary context. Object Index will remain on view through May 8, 2021.

The highly anticipated SipShop kicks off on First Friday, February 5, and runs through February 13!  This sale of cups, mugs, and drinking vessels created by Belger Artists-in-Residence, is in its seventh year. Proceeds support residents’ studio practices and professional pursuits.  SipShop is perfect for new and returning collectors, and for Valentine’s Day gift-giving.  The Resident Artists each make a limited number of SipShop pieces.  Some are available at a special collector’s price of $30, to encourage a new generation of collectors.

Make Belger Arts a stop on your First Friday adventure. William Christenberry: Tracing Time continues at Belger Arts Center (2100 Walnut St., KCMO). The exhibition offers an examination of art icon William Christenberry's relationship to Hale County, Alabama where he spent his summers as a child, its influence on his conceptual approach and artistic vision, and the psychology of place and memory. The exhibition includes photographs, drawings, paintings, and sculptures from the Belger Collection, some never before seen in Kansas City.
