Salvador Jiménez-Flores' solo exhibition, Arte-Sano: Soy libre porque pienso continues at the Belger Crane Yard Gallery (2011 Tracy Avenue, KCMO)

Salvador Jiménez-Flores is a Chicago-based artist and educator who, as a teenager, immigrated from Mexico to the U.S. His body of work is steeped in his experience as a bi-cultural, bilingual artist living “concurrently in two different worlds.” Arte-Sano: Soy libre porque pienso showcases the breadth of his practice through a range of media. His ceramics, glass, metalwork, photography, and prints reflect the artist’s continued exploration of the politics of identity and the state of double consciousness. He also highlights the struggles and complexities of Latinx people living in the U.S.

Digital Debut: Kyla Strid

Digital Debut artist Kyla Strid has been awarded numerous national and international artist residencies and has extensive experience as a gallery manager, studio manager, and curator at various institutions in the U.S. She is currently the Director of Residencies and Adult Education at the Lawrence Arts Center in Lawrence, KS.

Strid's work is a blend of historical forms and personal design sensibilities. The surfaces of her functional work are a blend of plant motifs, textures, and line work.

Her work is available for purchase at the Belger Crane Yard Gallery during regular hours and online 24/7 through the month of March.

Mug of the Month: Beks Leininger

The March Mug of the Month artist is studio member Beks Leininger. Inspired by the rituals of sharing food and how functional vessels serve to connect all of humanity, she states, "My greatest joy and fulfillment comes when I envision someone starting their day with a cup of coffee in a mug I crafted, arranging flowers in a vase I designed, or sharing a meal with loved ones over a dining set of my creation."

Leininger's mugs are available at the Belger Crane Yard Gallery during regular hours and online 24/7 through March 31, 2024.
