Victor and Friends: Honoring the Legacy of Victor Babu

Victor and Friends brings together works by Victor Babu (1936–2019) that demonstrate his refined forms and masterful surfaces, alongside pieces by friends and former students. More than two dozen alumni have contributed tea bowls finished with Babu’s own glazes, reconstituted by Deborah Wald and Molly Routhieaux Braley.

The exhibition also features chargers thrown by Babu and glazed and fired with the consultation and assistance from former student and studio assistant Matt Long, plus select works from Babu’s personal collection. Tea bowls and other designated pieces will be available for purchase, with proceeds supporting the Victor Babu Memorial Tuition Award at the Kansas City Art Institute.

Belger Arts organized this tribute in collaboration with former Babu students Deborah Wald, Matt Long, and Cary Esser.
