Artist Spotlights

Sweet Summertime Artist Dani Collette

Sweet Summertime is our new seasonal collection of handmade ceramic and glass works that invokes carefree days, sweet treats, dazzling colors, and cool summer style, including stained glass jewelry by Dani Collette.

Collette "look[s] to create magic moments between the viewer and the properties of light as it passes through colored and textured glass. Creating with the intention of challenging the expectations of what glass is and what it can be is the most important ingredient, along with a healthy dose of play as a practice of fulfillment for the audience as well as the maker."

Sweet Summertime features work by five national artists, including Collette. Shop the collection by visiting our website or enjoy shopping in person at the Belger Crane Yard Gallery (2011 Tracy Ave., KCMO) through July 31.

Resident Artist Joel Pisowicz

Joel Pisowicz recently completed his residency at Belger Crane Yard Studios and returns to Indiana this week.

Born and raised in a small town in northwest Indiana, Pisowicz began working with clay as a hobby when he was a teenager and eventually pursued a career in ceramics. During his time as a resident artist, he expanded and explored his practice, focusing on themes of monuments, memorial, and homage.

Pisowicz is one of six resident artists whose work is on view through September 6, 2025 at the Belger Crane Yard Gallery (2011 Tracy Ave., KCMO) in Shifting Perspective: The Belger Arts’ Twelfth Annual Resident Exhibition.

We will miss him and wish him the best in his future endeavors!

More than Meets the Eye Artist Dylan Martinez

This month, we're also spotlighting Washington-based glass artist Dylan Martinez. He creates both hyper-realistic and surrealist sculptural work, turning blown glass into 3-D illusions that invite closer inspection.

Martinez explains, "By capturing objects often associated with childhood and fleeting moments, my work taps into a sense of nostalgia, blurring the line between memory and material reality." Last month, he was a guest on the podcast Talking Out Your Glass, where he spoke about his process and history as a glassblower.

Martinez's work is in the group exhibition More Than Meets the Eye at the Belger Crane Yard Gallery (2011 Tracy Ave., KCMO), on view through September 6, 2025.

Put a Lid on It: Lidded Vessel Invitational

Deadline to Apply: Friday, July 25, 2025

Exhibition Dates: October 3 - December 31, 2025

Belger Arts invites artists to Put a Lid on It and explore the lidded vessel form.

From butter dishes and Dutch ovens to a trinket jar, adding a lid creates separation between what is inside and what is outside. Sometimes this separation is functional (keeping a casserole warm, while en route to a potluck), or it’s emotional (a safe place to keep a precious treasure).

The notion of what we choose to hold inside can be literal or symbolic, practical or emotional. Put a Lid on It invites artists to draw upon these ideas when creating lidded vessels and covered dishes in their unique styles.

The deadline to apply is July 25 (11:59 PM CST). Exhibition dates are October 3 through December 31, 2025.

Visit our website for more information about submission requirements, timelines, and more!

Closed for Juneteenth

Belger Arts’ three locations will be closed on Thursday, June 19, in observance of Juneteenth. Our regular hours will resume on Friday, June 20.
