Today is the Last Day to Vote on First Friday Glassblowing Demo Design

Prior to every First Friday glassblowing demo, the Belger glassblowing team comes up with the design that they create out of hot, molten glass on First Friday night. This time they’ve come up with two designs and need your help picking one.

Vote on our First Friday glass demo design by October 31 and watch glassblowers create it on First Friday, November 1 (6 - 8 pm)!

The team will be led by Belger’s lead glassblower Hoseok Youn (pictured here) and will feature participants who have completed his “Introduction to Cane” class. Watch how they work together to create a glass sculpture using their new skills.

First Fridays at the Belger Glass Annex are open-house-style events with plenty of free parking, so pop in for a little while or stay the entire time!

New at the Belger Crane Yard Gallery

Holidays at the Belger Crane Yard Gallery is an annual exhibition that opens November 1, 2024. Over 80 artists from across the country have created artwork for the holiday season that make the perfect gifts for family and friends. Choose from an array of unique artworks in a range of mediums: ceramics, glass, metal, textiles, wood, and more.

Several artists will be in attendance at our opening reception from 6 - 8 pm. Join us for a 6:30 pm toast to kick off the holiday season.

Artworks will be available for purchase from November 1 through December 31, 2024. Visit our website for a list of participating artists.

November Mug of the Month

November’s Mugs of the Month were created by Logan Reynolds, one of our current Artists-in-Residence. His playful work engages our sense of nostalgia. He references the aesthetics of cartoons and pop culture from his childhood, incorporating his own sense of humor.

Originally from Colorado, Reynolds received his MFA at Ohio University before moving to Kansas City for his Residency at Belger Arts.

Reynolds' farmyard mugs will be available beginning November 1, 2024.

We are pleased to host two travelling exhibitions in conjunction with the Stained Glass Association of America (SGAA) and the Society of American Mosaic Artists (SAMA). Both group exhibitions include mosaic and stained glass works and are on view through Jan. 5, 2024.

Digital Debut: Lauryl Sidwell

Digital Debut artist Lauryl Sidwell is based in Kansas City. Her interest in art was catalyzed by seeing contemporary stained glass. She began as a self-taught artist eventually taking a class at the Penland School of Craft. She has since expanded her knowledge of glass and works at Monarch Glass Studio.

Sidwell’s work will be available for purchase at the Belger Crane Yard Gallery (2011 Tracy Ave., KCMO) and online through November 30, 2024.
