Meet Hayun Surl, Belger Arts' new Visiting Artist! Originally from Korea, Surl blends Eastern and Western techniques and philosophies in his work, drawing inspiration from traditional Korean pottery. Surl describes his work as "the creation of artifacts—objects that draw from my personal history and the archives I have collected and created.'
During his residency at Belger Crane Yard Studios, Surl is developing a new series of large-scale ceramic sculptures, that explore the fluidity of cultural identity.
To learn more about Surl’s process, background, and experience at Belger Arts, join us for his Artist Talk on Saturday, August 1, at 11 AM at the Belger Crane Yard Gallery. |
