Hey Friend,
Amaymon has a strong connection to Egypt. Indeed, Mathers had referred to Amaymon as “An Egyptian Devil,” which is interesting considering the absolute lack of information about this Gatekeeper in grimoires, magickal texts, and even sorcerer’s journals.
Nevertheless, it was in Egypt that I met Amaymon. I’ve never set foot on that sand, though, at least not in this incarnation.
I had been searching for him for weeks, beginning with the sparse, vague grimoiric references to Amaymon.
I tracked him from tome to tome, I found him in Carthage being worshipped by Hannibal, and finally he reached out to me and he brought me to Egypt through a spontaneous lucid dream. I didn’t even realize that I had fallen asleep but simply opened my eyes and was sitting inside of the stone chamber of an ancient pyramid!

The Book Of Gates Was Revealed |

Waking up inside of a pyramid halfway across the world is not my only verification of Amaymon’s link to Egypt. In fact, since I started working with him, the validations are seemingly unending.
One such connection that still has me spiraling through the rabbit’s hole of occult knowledge is a text called “The Book of Gates,” found inside of Egyptian tombs.
This text was a perfect validation of a tale that Amaymon has passed on to me: When the sun sets, it sheds it’s illusory light and takes on a new body… a body of darkness. Thus, Ra is transformed into Amun. Amun then journeys through the Nightside as the Black Sun, and is resurrected in the morning in even great glory than before!
I had doubted that this story had any basis in established mythology until coming across The Book of Gates, which describes this underworld journey exactly as Amaymon told it to me.
Of greater importance, though, is that the text is purposefully unclear about who is making the journey. It is assumed to be Ra, but he is never named. Instead, it refers to “That God” and to the pharaoh as being the chief figure.
What is clear, though, is that this sort of myth is repeated in religions everywhere, and is still relied on for the best literature, film, and artwork.
The hero descends into darkness, into the underworld, to obtain something that is unattainable… and unknowing to him, to become something that he could never imagine!
In this impossible quest, he must take command of various demons and fiends of shadow and fire, evoking them and constraining them through their names and through his authority as a Living God!
He also must traverse a Lake of Fire, which I assumed to be simple Christian iconography until now.
If he succeeds, he is resurrected in a more perfect form of himself, having died and been reborn in a body that appears not very different from his former self, but is indescribably and fundamentally changed.
If he fails, he is destroyed completely, consumed by the Lake of Fire and devoured by Darkness.

How To Survive & Ascent As A Living God |
|
Does he succeed? As surely as the sun rises!
How does he succeed?
When we are on the path of Ascent, truly uncovering ourselves and diving deep into the Mystery, we are inviting change into our lives in a major way. The obstacle to change is complacent and attachment.
In order for the solar god to triumph, he must have strength, he must exercise wisdom, and he must have confidence and faith in his own self above all else.
But, he also cannot be bound by attachment. Remember that in the story, at the very start of the journey Ra had to shed his light, which he realized was a powerful illusion.
In order for us to grow and evolve, we will have to face ourselves and a seemingly chaotic reality threatening us at every gate. In order for us to triumph, we cannot be attached to who we think we are, or to what we’ve assumed reality really is. We must remain open for everything to change… even our own minds!
Azazel has said: "Attachment is when you buy the reality that is presented to you, instead of buying the reality that you want.”
The paradox is that once you’ve attained the reality that you want, it then becomes the reality that is presented to you, forcing the cycle of Ascent ever forward and upwards!
I will see you at midnight the night of August 27th to participate in this release of Compendium of Lucifer-Amaymon. Together with Kurtis Joseph, Edgar Kerval, Bill Duvendack, Asbjorn Torvol, and Frank White we pull humanity to evolve into next-generation individuality, freedom, and power here on Earth -- as we loose ourselves from ancient shackles of psychological and social slavery.
Talk again soon,
