Hey Friend,

A member of the Community Forum asked: "Do you have a meditation or ritual I can use to find my godself?"

This is a question that I get sometimes, especially when I’m consulting with a magician who recognizes the true potential of magick.

If the whole point of magick and spirituality is Ascent, can’t we just get straight to the point of it? Isn’t there a ritual or meditation or operation that you can perform to find your True Self?

There are some extended magickal operations, like the Abramelin Operation, or a system pathworking that can help guide you towards an active unfolding of your Self, this is a process of unfolding, a process of self-discovery, and it is one that will require your continued and vigilant attention.

Really, such pathworkings are really systematic means of keeping you focused on Ascent on a regular basis over an extended period of time. The climax (or multiple climaxes!) of the pathworking is in no way the end of the road, but is a peeling back of who you think you are to catch a glimpse of who you could potentially be.

But, this doesn’t mean that you’re on your own to struggle through this process.

Here are the 3 things that will make all the difference:

Ritual Is Supposed To Be Traumatic!

Ritual, especially evocation, is traumatic.

Initially, the candlelight, incense, chanting, and ritual devices are so strange and outside of our mundane experience that it lulls the magician into a sort of spell, seducing us into deep states of consciousness.

Once we have descended into these internal states, strange things start happening in the external world. The air thickens, sometimes astral lights will begin flashing in the temple, and I’ve often experienced all sorts of poltergeist activity when the cone of power is erected around and above me.

A literal vortex has opened in the Temple, and all that comes through that vortex - seen and unseen - has a profound effect on the magician who is coming into direct, unfiltered contact with that power.

The ritually induced trauma - whether it is recognized as such immediately or not - causes us to question ourselves and the world around us, and forces us to reevaluate reality itself!

Use This World As Your Testing Grounds

Even more startling than the initial ritualized contact with these powers is the shock that the magician experiences when what he or she desires manifests in our lives.

We tend to view reality as static, and we see ourselves as merely small parts of a whole engine of reality that we are immersed in.

Through ritual successes, we discover firsthand that reality is not something we are immersed in, but it is something that emanates from us… that we indeed are Living Gods walking this earth, discovering our own omnipotence as we go.

In this way, this world is your testing grounds for your godhood. All things that could be considered obstacles or blockages instead can be seen as opportunities or invitations to step forth and apply all of your power to altering reality!

Daily Contemplation On The Things Of Eternity

In my own early stages of Ascent, I asked a similar question to my mentor, Master Suhnam.

His answer was that, "Perfection comes not by random acts of kindness, benevolence or power or godliness, but by daily contemplation of the things of Eternity."

Any lasting change requires lasting commitment to that change, magickal or otherwise. If you want to be healthier and stronger, you will need to eat good food and exercise daily. Doing so only one day every month is not going to yield any results.

The same is true concerning magickal evolution.

Meditate daily. Evoke often.

As King Paimon once told me in evocation:

Decide each day what you are going to create, and you will have all power to create it!

Three friends and I have made official contact with a prehuman diplomat from The Outer Darkness named Belial. Traditional religions have slandered him as a "demon" and his name means 'Without a Master'. We compiled a four-grimoire compendium of our experiences with him in possession, evocation, and divination. If you would like to see our discoveries, unlock his secrets, and perform his black magick too, then take a look at Compendium of Belial right now.
