As the Operator, everything that is summoned in a ritual is under your control, as if you are the Creator and center of existence. They would only turn on you if you become adversarial to them, which explains why Ceremonial Magicians have so many problems with demons!

Those of us who put ourselves in league with the spirits that we summon don’t have to worry about the demons trying to harm us, for the most part.

Instead, what often happens is that the energetic environment that is generated and multiplied through your rituals can have very real, and sometimes very frightening effects on your immediate surroundings and nearby people. Children are especially sensitive to these forces.

The suggestions I give below will help you keep your home - and the people in it - insulated from the residual effects of your magick, without requiring that you stop working with the Powers of Darkness.

If you’re able to, it is best to keep your magickal working space separate from your living space. If you have a spare bedroom, a basement, a rarely used den, or a garage, you can consider using this space - or even a portion of it - for ritual.

Not everyone has an extra room to convert into a Temple. You can realistically conduct your ritual operations anywhere. If you want to contain the energy of the ritual into a specific room, all you have to do is create a magickal barrier dividing that room from the rest of the home. You can do this by holding your right hand up, palm facing the connecting wall or door, and visualizing a red energetic field being erected between the rooms. Hold the visualization until you can feel it solidify into magickal reality, and you can then begin your ritual without worrying about demonic power running loose through the house!

Sigils are like portals or gateways connecting this world with the realm of the spirit that you wish to call. The power of that spirit and of the spirit worlds in general floods through that sigil, influencing this world and its inhabitants to bring about the effect that you desire.

Once your ritual has ended in success, find the sigil - which is usually folded into a small square and tucked away somewhere discreet - and close the gateway by burning the sigil.

Don’t forget to thank the spirit for its good work as you do this!

If you are casting spells or performing rites of any sort on a regular basis, I recommend that you clean and clear the energy out of your house every 1-3 months. You can do this by filling a bowl with saltwater and channelling astral golden light through your body, out of your right hand, and into the water. As you inhale, pull light into yourself from everywhere around you. As you exhale, push the light down your arm, out of your hand, and into the water. Repeat this until it feels like the water is glowing.

Then, sprinkle the charged water around your home and verbally command all uninvited or unwanted entities and energies to depart… and they will!

Lastly, pay attention to your subtle senses. If you or anyone else in your home starts to feel uneasy for no reason, or if the stress levels seem to be climbing, or if petty arguments and disagreements escalate in frequency or intensity, my recommendation is to clear the clutter first, and ask questions later!
