I was watching a Mark Passio video, a seminar that he conducted several years ago, where he was talking about several things dealing with Satanism, such as the esoteric mind and esoteric civilization. During this talk, he touched on a side note—this was a small topic that could have fallen by the wayside as a side note for most people, but I became aware of it, recognizing it for what it actually implied and the potential that it represented. What he was delivering was the simple concept that there are two universal currencies, and all human currencies revolve around these two concepts.

When it comes to summoning spirits, one of the things that I’m asked the most is what the spirits actually want from us in order to act in the world on our behalf. Simply put, the spirits want time and attention. They want to be able to use their power in this world through time and attention. These are the same principles used to build a strong physical body. You’re not going to get results overnight, but you’ll be guaranteed to achieve results if you’re giving yourself the time and attention needed to strengthen your muscles and your physical body. It’s no different for the spiritual self. What does your spiritual body need in order to flourish, to strengthen and blossom? It needs your time and attention.

As a whole, ritual serves to focus your time and attention on the outcome that you desire. When you engage in ritual, you’re seeing yourself attaining the goals that you have, knowing with certainty that they are going to manifest. The whole magickal process is boiled down to giving the appropriate kind of attention in the right place, for the right amount of time, in order to allow the things that you’re trying to create to blossom. As you step beyond the temple, going from practicing magick to actually being magickal, you won’t necessarily need the ritual anymore. All you’ll have to do is firmly turn your attention to the thing you desire. See it as if it’s already happening, as if you’ve already won. Once your emotions, your mental state, and your physical actions are in alignment with your goal, you can accomplish anything.

Again, you can do this in ritual or outside of ritual, but the reality of it is that you’re doing it all the time. The things that you’re paying attention to are the things that flourish. The things that you are investing your time in are the things that are going to grow. Now, more than ever, it is vitally important that we protect our energy, and we do this by making sure that we’re placing our time and our attention on the things that will serve us best. This is the path to becoming a living God.
