In my new grimoire Gateways of Necromancy, I share experiences working with diverse demons and spirits connected to the Current of Death, such as Azrael, Euronymous, Hekate, Hel, San La Muerte, Qayin, Baron Samedi, and Saturn.

The process of Death across many ancient cultures has always been rich in knowlwedge, and we will explore their beliefs and practices. The loas or spirits from the Voodoo pantheon play a very important role in the robust traditions of the Death Current. Each Loa has its own symbol called a veve. These elaborate symbols are normally drawn on the floor using a powder like ash or wheat flour. Sacrifices and offerings of food, rum, and cigars are often placed on them as well. The veve acts like a beacon that calls its specific loa into the room. Mostly of the loas are deply connected to Death, so this is why I consider them one of the most important traditions to connect with this Magick. We have workings with numerous of them, so here I will explain some of them and their respective methods of working.

The Ghede aren’t technically loa, but actually spirits of the Dead. They are led by Baron Samedi, Baron La Croix, Baron Cimitere, and Baron Kriminel, which are real loa. Ghede spirits are rude, loud, and extremely amorous. When they possess a priest during a service, the priest has no fear and will do things like eat raw chillis or glass or anointing their flesh with chili rum. The Ghede are traditionally represented with the colors black and purple.

Modern Haitian Vodou has two types of Spirits of the Dead: Gédés and Barons. Boundaries between them are sometimes nebulous, but in general the Barons are the spirits in charge, elite spirits of Death. The Barons exert dominion over the Dead.

Of course, this only scratches the surface of the Vodou Magick, cultures, and rituals revealed in Gateways of Necromancy.
