I left my body and shot my Soul Self to Mimas, finding myself inside a rocky cave on the surface of Saturn’s most mysterious moon. I then formed an indigo tunnel across the vacuum of space to connect Mimas with Earth through magickal bi-location, which is basically like splitting my consciousness in half and moving both pieces of myself across the entire solar system from each other. Despite the distance, though, the blue light-tunnel instantly formed, anchoring me on earth and on Mimas simultaneously.

As I continued through the ritual, both of my “selves” moved in unison, the ritual being performed in both locations at the same time.

I then spread myself even further away from singular identity by soul traveling in the same instant to every magician who signed up for this Super Blood Wolf Moon Pact Ritual, tethering each person’s Body of Darkness to the ritual.

Next, I evoked Azazel and saw his body materialize in the incense smoke.

Lastly, I evoked the Weapons of Darkness for each of the participants, and delivered them immediately to their new owners!

But the most powerful part of the ritual evocation was not even part of the ritual, really, but actually took place a day before the ritual began.

I had been preparing for this Sword of Azazel Ritual for months, and I could feel the energy of the eclipse and the focused gaze of the Infernal Hosts magnifying as each day passed.

Finally, the day before the ritual, my omniscient Knowing pulled me away from the tasks that I had scheduled for the day, instead pushing me to stay inside my temple for the entire day. At first, I wasn’t sure what exactly I was supposed to do in my temple all day long, but I knew that when Azazel makes a suggestion, he also places all needed information and support directly on the path that he points you down.

I started the morning with meditation, and before I could finish 108 mantra repetitions I already knew what I needed to do.

I needed to clean.

My temple was passably clean. Bulky items were on or in desks, on top of altars, on shelves, or in their assigned places. There wasn’t any trash kicking around on the floor, and as far as I could tell, all of my ritual relics were secured, covered, or fixed in their magickal locations.

But I knew that if my grandmother walked in, she would instantly spot the smudges on the entrance door, the incense ash mixed with sand and plain old dirt in the rugs, dust on the shelves and tabletops, and random papers, tools, and miscellaneous things from around the house shoved inside or desk drawers.

My temple was clean enough for my liking, but if it wasn’t clean enough for my grandma, why would I think that it was in decent enough condition to invite one of the oldest, most powerful entities in all of existence into my sacred space.

Whether Azazel cared about cleanliness or not isn’t the point, because the preparation of myself, the preparation of the ritual items, the ritual information, and the ritual space is much more for my benefit than for the spirit’s sensibilities.

I was reminded of my own assertion in Evoking Eternity:

I had fallen into the same complacent mire, but the solution was right in front of me.

Armed with rags and cleaning sprays, brooms, vaccums, and garbage bags, I spent the day scouring my temple from top to bottom, removing everything that did not magickally belong in it.

While cleaning a room is a simple, thing, even a mundane thing, such detailed preparation sharpens your magickal focus and primes you - and your immediate surroundings - for an overwhelmingly successful rite.

If you think about it, you wouldn’t clean the temple unless you expect the spirit you are calling to show up. By preparing the space as if you expect to be visited by royalty, you are setting the stage for the evocation to go exactly as you expect it to!
