One of the primary reasons that John Dee became interested in the occult is to weaponize it as a tool on behalf of the crown. Dee was motivated by patriotism, and one of the things he sought was a technique or a tool to use to scry on the enemies and allies of the queen. He got this with the 91 Parts of Earth Enochian system.
Much of this material aligns with various nations on the planet, and includes correspondences that can be used when you create your own rituals. Each one of the parts aligns with either a country or a geographical area on the planet. Additionally, each one corresponds to a particular Aethyr, location on a tablet, angel, and divine name. If these aren’t enough correspondences, each part also has a host of servient spirits that can be called on to work with those specific areas.
All of this information can make it quite useful to perform rituals and spells that are based on a certain location on the globe. When used correctly and appropriately, this can make the results of your work more powerful and accurate. While this material can be stand-alone in nature, you can also add it to your magical repertoire. There is one problem with this system, though, which serves as a stark reminder of the need for evolution rather than unwavering commitment to tradition. The system is limited and partially no longer accurate.
The information that Dee and Kelly received was limited by that period in time. In other words, Dee and Kelly were given the information based on the nations and lands in existence when they were alive. I am pretty sure all of us are in agreement when we realize that a lot of changes to nations and regions have occurred since our two intrepid explorers received this information. This creates a sticky situation for regular magicians, but innovative magicians encounter no such problems. The sticky situation is that to alter the system could be seen as weakening the integrity of the Enochian tradition as a whole. But to not change it to keep up with the times means that there will be a time in the future when this branch of Enochian magick will no longer be viable.
Further writings beyond the scope of the original source material have been done that discuss this system, and offer thoughts on how to evolve it, and in Wails of the Wandering Angels, and The Enochian Chronicles we will discuss these. For now it is simply enough to know that as soon as a perspective other than Dee and Kelly was shared, the material became more fluid, meaning that your interpretation and adaptation is just as valid as anyone else’s. But, before you can bend the system, you have to learn the system.
