Hello Friend,

Today, I want to talk to you about a movie that I used to love when I was a kid. As I look at my life and how black magick is such a core part of who I am and what I do, it’s really interesting to me that one line from this movie still stands out to me. It might seem a little silly, but today it actually seems really meaningful, so I’d like to give you a little peek into me as a person and some of the motivations for why I do what I do.

Following The Message

You probably already know that I’m absolutely obsessed with black magick. It’s the center of everything for me. There have been people throughout my life who have suggested that I should back away, or simply just tone it down a bit. What they’re really saying is that I need to be less of myself, to be less true to my nature. That’s impossible for me, because black magick is being myself in every dimension, every place of existence. My will is what reigns supreme in my reality.

I often release excess energy by boxing with a punching bag that I keep in my temple. Recently, as I was wailing on the bag, harsh music blasting to get my adrenaline going, my emotions started breaking, though, pouring out of me. As I stood there dripping sweat, a memory came to me of what Eric Mabius said as the character he played in a movie called, Black Circle Boys. I’m not necessarily recommending the film, but I am pointing out how messages can come from anywhere when you’re ready for them. You’ll see them in the Book of Mormon or the Bible just as easily as a newspaper or Playboy. All you have to do is look for them.

In the film, the character played by Eric Mabius is convincing his friends to join him in rituals to a Dark God. To paraphrase, he says:

“What black magick allows us to do is to take all the bad stuff and turn it into power.”

Understanding the fullness of this "bad stuff" has been an intense process for me. As I’ve worked through it, I’ve been doing my best to convert all of the darkness inside me into power of some sort. (The film did not use the word "stuff." Fill in the adult language there that spam filters disallow.)

The Purest Form Of Power

Power, in its purest form, is the ability to do work. This is why the Vikings would put runes and spells on their shields and weapons. When they called upon Thor and Freya for protection in battle, they wouldn’t say, “I’m going to sit at home, will you do this for me?” They would go into battle themselves, asking their gods to come into battle with them. This is the true spirit of the Warrior and Warrioress, and it must be strengthened and fed.

Beelzebub gave me some advice that I’ll never forget. I once called on him up in the sand flats, in the middle of a sea salt ocean in the middle of the desert. One of the things I asked him for was the ability to control anyone’s mind, getting them to do whatever work I wanted them to do. His reply was:

“Instead of trying to take the people who might not agree with you and shove your brain into theirs, making them think what you want them to think, why don’t you just tell people what you need? Why don’t you just ask for what you need? You’ll find people, they’ll come to you. But you have to start walking, and then they’ll follow.”

Transforming The Source

That’s difficult advice to follow, but I’m doing it. For the most part, when I ‘m taking pain and turning it into power, I’m able to recognize if I’m abusing it. When I notice this, I’m able to adjust and shift my energies as necessary. I’m trying to make an agreement with myself that I have to be okay with not being perfect. True power is effortless, so I’m aiming my focus and my mindfulness towards myself. Everything I experience in the outside world is a phenomenon being created within. We’re not just talking about casting spells on other people here. We’re talking about getting into the source code, and being very mindful of how we tinker with that. The source code doesn’t exist in the Akashic record, on the astral plane, or far away in the ether. It exists right here in who you are.

I’m not saying that this world isn’t real. When I’m rock climbing or riding my motorcycle, I’m aware of the fact that there are laws to this dream, but I’m also aware that it’s just a dream. It’s a very, very persistent dream, and one that does seem to matter quite a bit. The beautiful thing is that we can lose the dream. As you’re reading this, whether you know it or not, you’re tuning into how you can change yourself, your inner world. Some of us want to accomplish that by tinkering with the outside world, hoping it will fix the inside. Sometimes it can help us understand the process, but eventually the arrow is always going to point inwards.
