My guess is that there is a good portion of the population that has no interest in it, and really probably wouldn't find that it clicks well with them. But then you have people like me, maybe people like you, who are obsessed with this.

I remember when I first performed my very first ritual, which wasn't much of a ritual at all, but was more of a spiritual connection with the elements of nature.

As I called upon fire, water, earth, air, and spirit, from the four cardinal points, and I stood out on a cliff, with the wind buffeting my body, and I screamed into the wind my first request to the powers of magic.

I remember the feeling that rose up in me, the cone of power that evolved up from the ground and erected itself above my head, and the influx of energy that flowed down into that funnel and into me. There was literally nothing from that point forward that could keep me away from magic.

To this day, that addiction runs strong still.

That first introduction into magic, was conducted when I was about 15 years old, so I've been at this for well over 20 years.

And through that time I've had to really evaluate why this is so important to me.

What I keep coming back to are the 3 Godlike Powers!

At different points in my ascent depending on perhaps what pathworking I'm working on, what spirits I'm working with, or just where I'm at in general in life, my reason, my focus shifts.

In interestingly does seem to shift among those 3 Godlike Powers:

1. Omniscience, the ability to know anything, to have all knowledge, to tap into the source of all knowledge.

2. Omnipotence, all-power, which is practiced and refined through the art of evocation.

3. And omnipresence, which is most directly experienced through soul travel.

If asked why I am so obsessed with the occult, I’d normally either answer, “Knowledge” or “Power.”

Right now though, as I've worked with Abaddon and as I carry his Black Gate within me into the world wherever I go, my focus and my reason is not knowledge nor power.

My obsession is now focused wholly on presence.

I’d like to introduce you to a philosophy that I started floating when I first wrote The Book of Azazel. It is a cornerstone of my entire practice of ascent, my entire approach to ascent.

This is what I call the antitransmigratory experience. This is drawn from the common belief in the transmigration of the soul. And so soul existed with Source, or the Divine, or with God, or whatever terms you want to put it into. And the soul migrated to this plane, this lower plane.

Often these religions say that soul was supposed to learn something, or to be tested, to prove itself somehow in this harsh reality, after which you then return to Source.

One of the best things about magic is that you don't have to trust me or anybody else; you don't have to take anybody's word for it, and you absolutely don't have to wait until you're dead to find out.

Through Soul Travel, you can enter into all of the heavens and hells that exist, you can travel through all of the realms, and you can ascend into the heart of the eternal, becoming one with the Source.

If you are a true Adversary, if you truly have what it takes to cement your own individuality, at that point you push away from the nearly crippling peace and love that has ripped your astral body away from you, has demolished your mental being, until mind is not even there any more. It's stripped away your eternal self, and has left pure soul: Atman.

You can then decide if it's going to merge with the Source or if you're going to become a living god.

You descend from the Heart of the Eternal, from the center of Source, and push yourself back down the ladder, back through planes of existence, recollecting all that's been stripped away, reforming your various bodies, pulling yourself back together in a much more perfect form.

You then remanifest in this world as an autonomous being.

The true Black Adept is not seeking to escape this world. The true Black Adept is not seeking to dissolve him or herself into the Eternal. In my vision and perspective at this moment, it seems that the real work, the real quest of the true Black Adept is immortality.

True immortality surpasses all planes, all dimensions.

The Black Adept is beyond all rules, all laws. The true Black Adept is a law and a god unto himself.

Souls are descending and ascending, being recycled into the machine of reality by Source. Brahma breathes in, pulling souls into his omnipresent body, and he breathes out, breathing them back out as new life, as new beings.

All the while, the Black Adept remains the unmoving center of an ever-changing kaleidoscope. The Black Adept remanifests in this world over and over and over again, mastering himself, mastering his power here.

That's why many of us were born with abilities, powers, and knowledge that we simply shouldn't have. We have carried it from our previous incarnations. And as we have forced ourselves back into bodies of flesh in this world, we have reasserted our godhood over this realm. We continue our work of becoming Living Gods here and now.

I stand behind my assertion that Mastery over the 3 Godlike Powers is really just the beginning.

That's when your work can actually start.
