FEBRUARY 2017  - THE WORLD'S FAVORITE NEWSLETTER - NEWS • UPDATES • PREVIEWS
PIRATES: DEAD OR ALIVE!
Pirate ships made their way down the St. Lawrence Seaway to the shores of Lake Michigan and Lake Superior in January! Multiple reports from locals say the most notorious buccaneers including Blackbeard, Anne & Read, and Captain Kidd were aboard the ships. The horns have sounded and players across Wisconsin and Iowa have been attempting to capture these villains while collecting big bounties!

Outlaws: Dead or Alive was such a success we spun off Pirates:Dead or Alive as a complimentary theme and added two great new features. “Outlaws: Dead or Alive was released at the end of June and immediately was a success, and it continues to be a strong earning game as reorders have been consistent since its inception," says Dan Lewicki, Midwest Sales Executive for Banilla Games. “Given the success of Outlaws it only made sense to release a similar game style with an alternative theme and we are truly excited to sit back and watch Pirates: Dead or Alive evolve into a staple for your route,” continued Dan.

The first new feature is a 1¢ play level which will help players who have odd amounts of change remaining on the game, yet still want to play their credits. The second feature is full control of all three jackpots in our administrative menu. You set the parameters or range for each jackpot level and tailor it to fit the location preferences. As always, the game is available complete in cabinets (wood or metal), boards, and also hard drives for easy conversion of existing Banilla Games. How do pirates know that they are pirates? They think, therefore they ARRRR!!!!
DIAMOND SKILL 9

Just in time for the final push of updates at the end of 2016 we released another hit single-screen game - Diamond Skill 9, which includes three brand-new gorgeous nudge games. We have built on the success of Diamond Skill 8 and kept such features as all single-line nudge games and all wins equal to or greater than the wager. Oh….. and of course a whole lot of Banilla flavor! Word on the street is Diamond Skill 9 is an instant classic!

The first game title is Rockin’ Robin - a catchy theme that might make you break out in dance while playing! The game is loaded with features including a bonus track picking game, configurable progressive jackpots, and tiered big win animations. The Free Games feature is especially rockin’ and gives the player a choice between a multiplier, second chance, or wild reel features - and if you’re lucky enough you may even obtain an encore of additional free games! We don’t mean to chirp our own horn but….. Tweet, Tweet!

Flying Aces is a military style aviation theme and the second of the three game titles on Diamond Skill 9. This game features a random crumble bomb drop which explodes symbols on the screen and replaces them with new potential winning icons, and a random wild crate drop which has winning symbols and/or multipliers to create big wins. Both of these features are active when a plane flies over the screen during game play and you never know which one you’ll get! Finally, there are three interactive bonus rounds - Air to land, air to sea, and air to air combat. In each of these bonus rounds you are the pilot and need to choose buildings, ships, and enemy aircraft to attack and each award random prizes during the bonus rounds. And, of course, there are tired big win animations and configurable progressive jackpots. Bombs away!

The third game on Diamond Skill 9 is Tiki Party. Might as well bust out your hula skirt and grab a Pina Colada - you’re going to be playing a while! Random wild reels often appear during game play to assist with winning combinations making this feature very popular. When the player is awarded Free Games, they receive six (6) Free Spins with three (3) active paylines and “Linked Reels”. In each Free Game the first and last reels are linked together, always landing with identical symbols - talk about HOT! Last but certainly not least is the Tiki Bonus. Just like Fremont Street in Vegas you pick a hand to find the pearl in a five round picking bonus. Pick all five correctly and you get to spin the Bonus Wheel! Aloha, everyone!

Meet our Development Team and
Chief Product Officer
The development team that creates Banilla games is a talented group of engineers and programmers that focus on players first to achieve excellence. Using the latest in software development technologies including Unity, .NET and C#, these folks carefully assemble each game from start to finish with great care and consideration for game mechanics, visuals, and specific market requirements. Constructing games often calls for the engineers to invent entirely new mechanics and systems to achieve a design goal. Once the design, art and sound teams have started work on a game, it’s the engineers and programmers that are tasked with tying them all together and bringing to life the unique experiences only found in Banilla games. "Our talented engineering team is at the core of every game, and their keen eye for detail and uncanny ability to translate a vision into reality sets them, and us as a company, apart from the competition,” declared Bill Wadleigh, Chief Product Officer.

Bill Wadleigh joined the team in December as our Chief Product Officer. Bill brings twenty years’ experience in creating great games. He has over 130 games to his credit and has worked with many of the largest gaming companies to bring high performance games to markets worldwide.

Banilla Games Hosts Workshop in Atlanta
On January 19th Banilla Games hosted a workshop and technical seminar in conjunction with CPI/MEI, Goldfinger Monitors, and VSR Industries at the Atlanta Airport Marriott Gateway Hotel and Convention Center. The basis of the workshop and seminar was Understanding GLI-23, which had been previously, and informally, mentioned at other COAM events or meetings, and also technical training on components such as monitors and bill acceptors. The event was an extraordinary success with over 200 attendees including operators, technicians, manufacturers, Georgia Lottery Representatives, GAMOA Directors, and GLI Representatives.

The Workshop was broken down into three main sessions - Goldfinger Monitors, CPI/MEI, and Banilla Games with VSR Industries. Denis Lagace from Goldfinger Monitors spoke about the company history, the in-house configuration capabilities, and also discussed troubleshooting issues. Session two was Chris Felix from CPI/MEI who spoke about maintenance on Cashflow style bill acceptors, troubleshooting, programming/reprogramming, and also regarding MEI’s experience with GLI certifications. Session three was co-hosted by Kevin Morse (Banilla Games) and Dean Martin (VSR Industries). Kevin and Dean presented a rudimentary explanation of GLI-23 and how it may or may not be applicable to the COAM market. Members of the Georgia Lottery and GLI assisted with answering questions and engaged in group discussion that was truly valuable in terms of the potential future of the Georgia COAM market and GLI-23. Dean Martin also discussed VSR’s experience and history with various certifications from a cabinet standpoint, and focused on outlining the simplicity of Banilla’s cabinets to be retrofitted to any new regulations that may occur in the future.
A plethora of drawings took place every hour in which attendees won eight (8) 23” Goldfinger Monitors, four (4) CPI/MEI Cashflow Bill Acceptors, four (4) Banilla Games Hard Drives, and one (1) Dual-Standard board ready cabinet. Congratulations to all the winners!

Banilla Games would like to extend a HUGE thank you to CPI/MEI, Goldfinger Monitors, VSR Industries, The Georgia Lottery, and GLI for volunteering their time and helping make this a success!
Technically Speaking
Monitor Resolution Settings

We pride ourselves in providing the highest quality technical support and ultimate graphical experience while playing our games. Although most operators purchase our games complete in cabinets, many also utilize existing cabinet inventory. Whether it’s our cabinet our yours, the resolution sometimes needs to be adjusted through Windows in order for the games to display appropriately. “Occasionally we receive calls that the resolution will not save after making the changes in Windows,” says Marcus Stukes - Technical Support Manager. “If this occurs there is a simple process to ensure the settings save.”

  1. Plug in a keyboard to one of the USB ports on the board.
  2. Go to the Admin menu and touch “Configure Terminal”
  3. On the bottom of the screen there will be a button labeled “Change Screen Resolution” - touch that button.
  4. A windows menu will appear with selections to change the screen resolution.
  5. For single-screen boards the resolution needs to be 1024x768
  6. For dual-screen boards the resolution needs to be 1920x1080
  7. Once you select the appropriate resolution touch the “apply changes” button on the windows screen then touch ok to exit the screen.
  8. On your keyboard - hold down “Control + ALT+ Delete”
  9. A screen will appear and in the bottom right corner will be a “triangle” symbol
  10. Touch the triangle symbol, choose restart and the game will reboot.
  11. When the game boots back up the resolution will be saved
