Impossible? Not With Faith
Each week Dr. Catherine Nyameino balances running Hope Channel Kenya, serving as a public relations officer, meeting with executive committee members, creating TV and radio scripts, hosting two TV shows, training media workers, preaching and more.

In truth, her busy schedule is her own doing. She had the faith to believe the East Kenya Union Conference could buy a radio station in a predominantly Muslim community, when money seemed unavailable. She applied — when her bosses said no — for a television frequency. Now, baptisms and church plants grow strong in the Muslim community, where preachers had been unwelcome. Prisoners are learning about God through the Hope Channel, accessed on televisions she provided.
"Whenever opportunity comes, the window may be three-fourths closed, I will trust the Lord to open the whole of it."
This tenacious persuader runs four radio stations and a TV channel.

“Whenever an opportunity comes, the window may be three-fourths closed, I will trust the Lord to open the whole of it,” said Nyameino, the conference’s communications director.

This lesson has reverberated throughout her life. When she was 5, her mother died, and yet God made a way for her to attend school when others in her situation could not. Nyameino lives by the words in Psalm 124: “If the Lord had not been on our side … the raging waters would have swept us away. … Our help is in the name of the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.”

She never imagined God would make her a leader.

“You are always dismissed at any level for being a girl child,” Nyameino said of the cultural climate. “What kind of contribution can a girl make? … One of the contributions I have made is that that which I contribute is meaningful, truthful and I am doing it with all honesty.”
