Our Focus:
Tools to Discern What Makes That Book Work?
In this call, we'll analyze together one of your favorite authors to discover what works.
Tools and items we'll discuss and use:
- Point of view (1st, 2nd, or 3rd person, and close/limited/omniscient)
- Who is the main character?
- What do they want?
- What is in their way?
- What is the setting? How do we know?
For this time, we have Katie and Shannon on deck.
For next time, Thursday, April 7th, two more people will volunteer to send in ahead of time the first 100-200 words of your favorite author's novel -- in the genre you're working in or close to it -- so we can analyze together what you love about them. And integrate that awareness back into our creative process.

-- share next steps and announcements
REMINDER: For March and April 2022, we'll talk about what works in your favorite novel, starting with analyzing the first 100 words. Everybody will have a turn. Be thinking about what book you'd like to choose and what you like about it. We'll talk more about this Thursday. :)
