Next week! 100-Word Critiques
Thurs 3/19 ☕️📖
Hi Friend,

Welcome to mid-March 2020!

I hope you are taking care of your health. Ez will be home from school for 2 weeks, teaching the kids online, and I'm progressing business-as-usual, since I already teach online :)

I look forward to reconnecting with you for Call #2, the second group of the month.

Thursday, March 19, 2020 at
5:30pm PT/8:30pm ET

Calls last up to 90 minutes.

Please RSVP. Thanks! The call will be recorded.

** Reminder: Send in up to 100-words ahead of time. Details below. **

Our Focus: 100-word critiques on narrative and/or dialogue

In our call, we'll go over 100-word critiques with/or narrative -- could be setting, inner thought, action, etc., AND/OR dialogue.

Optional: As we do we'll draft up some principles to keep in mind as you write and edit.

For example, here's the definition of a scene:

"A dramatic interaction that engages the reader emotions, usually involves more than one character, and changes at least one character psychologically, morally, or both."

-- Laurel Yorke, Beyond The First Draft: Deep Novel Revision

-- Does each scene contain a change, either psychologically, morally, or both?
-- Does your character change from the beginning to the end of the scene?
-- Are the emotions engaged?

Just some questions to use as you edit your scenes.

We'll also:

-- do our Metaphor Check-ins

-- share announcements and next steps

Bring your questions to the call or post ahead of time in the Facebook group here.

We'll also have a good time connecting!

Thanks!

PS. If you can't attend, you can still send in your questions, though you must be present for us to critique your work.
