New Torres Strait Islander coins in circulation
The new Torres Strait Islander coins have now been spotted in circulation. Here's a photo of what they look like (the non-C-Mintmark version):


The reason this is interesting is that when the Mint released the C-Mintmark version and rolls, they were unclear on whether these coins would make it into circulation. The media was reporting that the coins may not get into circulation (which seemed odd). If anything, it seemed like it could be later this year.

However, people have reported finding them in banks this week, so it appears that they are now in circulation.

Warning:
So just a quick warning - please don't get caught out paying crazy prices for single copies of this coin. You may be able to find this coin at face value in circulation.

The mintage for these circulating coins is unknown at this stage. The C-Mintmark coin has a mintage of 100,000 and the RAM-rolls (with 25 coins each) have a mintage of 15,000, but anyone who suggests a mintage for the circulation version is only speculating.

New ANDA show in Hobart this weekend!
Another exciting update is that there is a new ANDA Money Expo, which will be in Hobart this weekend. I've been asked to give a presentation about Coin Collecting at the show.

On both Saturday and Sunday at 12pm, I will be speaking about "Aussie Coin Collecting: Tips, Tricks and Treasures".

The presentation is 1hr with time for questions at the end. No booking necessary, just turn up on the day at the show. Doors for the ANDA show open at 10am on both days, and there will be dealers from around the country.

That also means that there will be special coins released that are unique to this show (if you collect the ANDA coins).
