Hey Friend

I hope that you are really well. It's new coin time...

New "Dawn Service" coin
It's become an annual tradition for the Royal Australian Mint (RAM) to release a new coloured $2 coin into circulation for ANZAC Day, and 2026 is no different. This year's coin is titled "Dawn Service" and it's going into circulation soon.

But before that happens, there is a C-Mintmark version of the coin being released next week. There will be 3 versions of this coin:
1. The version going into circulation - mintage unknown
2. A C-mintmark uncirculated coin ($22.50 RRP) - 100,000 mintage
3. A Silver Proof version of the C-Mintmark coin ($90 RRP) - 10,000 mintage.

Australia Post has already revealed what this coin will look like in their stamp bulletin...

As this coin is going into circulation, it's likely that dealers will also be selling rolls of the circulating coin.

The coins go on sale at dealers next Thursday (April 2), so make sure to keep an eye on their websites. If you prefer to buy from the RAM, their ballot opens on Monday (March 30). The RAM doesn't sell the rolls through their ballots, so you'll need to get rolls from dealers.

However, the coin should be available in circulation within the next few months at face value, so please don't over-pay for this coin.

Meeting Interesting Coin Collectors!
I was thrilled to meet a fellow collector at the recent Melbourne coin show, Dan the Collecting Man (who also has a coin channel on Youtube).

Dan has created a video explaining the 'Pirate Guide to Collecting Australian Coins', showing off the key coins to collect and some interesting details. He’s explained it brilliantly.

👀 Here’s the video:
