There's a new coloured $2 coin in circulation. This Matildas coin was released by the Royal Australian Mint (RAM) a few months ago, but back then the only way to get it was to buy it directly from the Mint as an uncirculated collector coin. However, now people are starting to find this coin in circulation.

The coin in circulation is the same one that RAM was selling - there is no C-Mintmark or privy mark version of this coin.

This coin celebrates the Matildas soccer team, and is a nice companion to the seven coins released through Woolworths back in 2023. However, unlike that 2023 promotion, this coin is not being released through any retail stores - it's gone straight into circulation.

The mintage is unknown at this stage. The coin's denomination ($2) is on the Tails side of the coin, so the Heads side has the normal Dan Thorne design.
