Leura Cascades became the first illuminated scenic site in the Blue Mountains in 1932, allowing visitors to walk as far as Bridal Veil Falls at night.

Blackheath Howlers said it’s time to reconnect with your inner dingo and howl with the pack. Join us on glorious Gundungurra and Darug Country this Sunday evening for the first howl of Spring.

BYO snacks and drinks for a friendly communal gathering where we ooh and ahh and aaaaaooooowwww at the beauty of the full moon rising over the valley.

Everyone is welcome, except for pets, of course, because we howl in the Blue Mountains National Park. It’s all happening this Sunday, September 27, from 6:30 pm, at Govetts Leap.

Pomona is a solo art exhibition by local Blue Mountains artist Ros Craig.

As a lifelong gardener, plants, flowers, foliage and intriguing vessels naturally form much of what inspires her work.

In Greek mythology, Pomona is the goddess of fruitful abundance, guarding and nurturing gardens and orchard fruit. Significantly for Ros, Pomona was the name of her first home after she married - a rich and diverse fruit-growing settlement on the banks of the Darling River in far western NSW. This exhibition is an expression of the abundance of her life, then and since.

Visitors are invited to view this fine example of a late 19th century Blue Mountains holiday

McLaughlin family. The cottage provides an insight into domestic life at that time, including in the original kitchen, where tasty titbits are often cooked on the open fire for visitors on Open Days.

Younger children might also enjoy following our gnome trail throughout our gardens.

An entrance fee of $10.00 for adults, $2.00 for school age children, covers both entry to the

cottage and inspection of the BMHS Research facilities.

Morning and afternoon tea, and, occasionally, soup and buns, will be available in the separate kitchen in the BMHS research building for a small additional charge.

Draft National Parks Establishment Plan - Have your say

The NSW Government is seeking community feedback on the draft National Parks Establishment Plan (the draft plan).

National parks play an important role in conserving biodiversity and protecting cultural heritage across NSW.

The draft plan updates the current National Parks Establishment Plan (2008), providing a clear framework for growing the national park estate to protect NSW's unique natural and cultural heritage for future generations. This includes how land will be assessed and prioritised for future investment.

Your feedback will help shape the final plan by making sure a range of community perspectives and knowledge are considered.
