| | | | | | TOP 100 BOOKS: On October 19th, the ABC will announce the 'ABC RADIO NATIONAL TOP 100 BEST BOOKS 2025' and the Blue Mountains' own Robyn Catchlove is in the running for her book 'SOMEWHERE DOWN A CRAZY RIVER'.
Robyn is the presenter of the Ask Roz Tourism Show on Radio Blue Mountains 89.1.
Robyn said: "In the late 1970s in Cairns, I built a 30ft x 11ft boat, dropped it into the ocean (no lifeboat, no life jackets, no charts but plenty of food, beer and tobacco) and headed north!
Ultimately, for the next 10 years or so, I became a professional fisherman/woman in the exquisite ocean/river systems between New Guinea and the top end, where I wrestled crocodiles, sharks, cyclones and men - the crocodiles being the easiest!
My biography about those times and what came next is called 'SOMEWHERE DOWN A CRAZY RIVER', and it has been nominated in ABC RADIO NATIONAL TOP 100 BEST BOOKS 2025, which will be announced on October 19th. How wonderful!
If you have read my book, or want to support me, I would be honoured if you voted for it by going to www.abc.net.au/listen/radionational and voting for it.' | | | Wizards Express – A Day of Steam & Sorcery - Saturday 4 October, Zig Zag Railway will transform into the Zig Zag Academy of Steam & Sorcery for a one-day-only event:

Choose your favourite style — Plain, Cheese, Spanish or White, each with its own character and flavour.
Every omelette is served with a side of sourdough, roasted cherry tomatoes and crisp garden greens. To finish, they add a spoonful of our house-made chilli hollandaise. It’s a small touch that brings gentle heat and a lift of flavour, making the omelette a café favourite.
OPEN: Wed - Mon 8:00am - 4:00pm 167 Lurline Street, Katoomba
TIP: Chef Jackie said, "If you're cooking at home, the best heat level to cook an omelette for the ideal texture is medium to medium-low heat. Cooking on medium heat allows the eggs to set gently without becoming tough or crispy, resulting in a silky, tender omelette. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | DELISH: “Crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside — paired with buttery mash and rich gravy.
