SOUND ALERTS ~ This morning on a sunrise bushwalk along the Prince Henry Cliff Walk Katoomba, the Cicada sounds were so loud they reached 106db (subway train). We were even getting a "Loud Environment" alert on an Apple watch.

To measure the sound we used a free web service: https://youlean.co/online-loudness-meter. If iPhone users open the link in Safari, this way you can save the page for future use on your home screen like an app.

Blue Mountains Historical Society - November Meeting and Public Talk - Saturday 2nd November 2024.
Commencing at 10.30 am, we will conduct our monthly meeting and public talk at Hobby’s Reach Research Rooms, 99 Blaxland Road, Wentworth Falls.

SCOTT HONEYSETT will speak about his new book, “Shattered Branches”, the story of 12 members of the Honeysett family who enlisted in the AIF during WW1. These human interest stories have strong ties to the Blue Mountains.

The first to enlist, Sam Honeysett, was the son of the founder of Springwood Newsagency, William Honeysett, which is now known as Springwood Officemart. William established the business, which was held in the family until the 1980s, in 1892.

Morning tea will be available from 10.00am. MORE info.
