Dear Friend of America's Survival:

For Immediate Release

Report to be Featured at Aug. 20 National Press Club Conference

Smear Journalism Against Conservatives

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Since its debut in 2005, the Huffington Post ("HuffPost") has repeatedly claimed that it is nonpartisan in its news coverage and adheres only to the highest journalistic standards. But a new report about the popular on-line news service calls it "a far-left propaganda machine, dedicated to smearing and attempting to intimidate into silence anyone who dares to challenge or oppose radical leftist ideology."

The new report, which examines the HuffPost role in the IRS-gate scandal, is titled, "The Huffington Post: Law-breaking, Front-line Smear Machine for the Homosexual Rights Movement." It is available at the website of America's Survival, Inc., a public policy group headed by veteran journalist and media critic Cliff Kincaid.

Kincaid said, "We are releasing this report in advance of our all-day August 20 conference because of its importance to the discussion of the growing IRS-gate scandal." In April 2012, the report notes, HuffPost breached not only the most basic journalistic standards but federal law when it published the confidential IRS tax return and donor list of a group that stands for traditional marriage, which, by definition, is one of its "enemies." Kincaid added, "This report sets the stage for one of the important topics at our conference - how the liberal media have moved from bias and advocacy to smears and intimidation against conservatives."  The conference is titled, "Crisis in Journalism— The Conservative Response," and is being held at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C.

Speakers at the conference will include Prof. Paul Kengor lecturing on his new book All the Dupes Fit to Print: Journalists Who Have Served as Tools of Communist Propaganda. Other speakers include researchers Tina Trent and Mary Grabar, investigative blogger Trevor Loudon, and  a presentation by Jerry Kenney of Kenney Broadcasting on the development of new media.

The conference is open to the media and public.
