[ASI] Romney Doesn't Know What He is Up Against

Dear Friend of America's Survival, Inc.:

Some of you are shocked by my observation that Obama "won" the debate by avoiding the image of an angry black man and a Marxist. Please go beyond the normal "left-right" perceptions.

Obama is a very clever Marxist. Romney is a businessman and a politician with a history of flip-flops.

Many out there want desperately to believe that Romney is a conservative. He is not.

As he emphasized during the debate, he made deals with liberals as governor of Massachusetts. Don't forget that Romney is the father of Romneycare and gay marriage in Massachusetts. Don 't lose sight of these facts in the "euphoria" of his debate win. Plus, he is currently surrounded by GOP establishment lobbyist types — the same kind of folks behind McCain's 2008 losing campaign.

You have to understand that Obama's biggest problem right now is with white voters, white male voters in particular. That is why he came across as non-threatening in the debate.

It doesn't matter if he won this or that point. What matters is how he was perceived by voters who might be inclined to consider his black racist or Marxist orientation.

Yes, he seemed out of touch. But at least he didn't recite the Communist Manifesto.

Alluding to the video of Obama praising racist Rev. Jeremiah Wright and the debate performance, Georgetown University Sociology Professor Michael Eric Dyson said, "Obama has just been subjected to the Fox News treatment of angry black man again. Lest we forget this, lest we pretend this doesn't make a difference, the specter hanging over him is: I can't come off as too vigorous because then it looks like I'm being an angry black man..."

Some conservatives say this is just another excuse for Obama's debate performance. No, it is an explanation.

You see, Obama has to offer himself as the "safe" choice for president. Dyson is a far-left black liberal on Obama's side. He understands what is happening.

Obama's performance was a ruse. He looks like a non-threatening choice in the debate and then gets angry and worked up on the stump, in order to fire up the base. That is what he is again doing today. He is going after the "real Mitt Romney," who he says did not show up at the debate. By so doing, Obama is echoing what some Republicans said about Romney during the primaries. We could see this coming.

This is a carefully orchestrated strategy. After presenting himself as a somewhat sympathetic character on television, even a victim of Romney's attacks, Obama is now on the attack, depicting Romney as a two-faced liar who deserves an Oscar.

This is not to say that Romney did not turn in a good performance, in terms of looking presidential and scoring some debating points. He even sounded conservative at times. It is only that Obama knows exactly what he is doing and what voters he needs to reach. It also means Romney is extremely vulnerable to a counterattack.

The fact is that Romney is a serial flip-flopper who has opened himself up to multiple attacks from the other side. What happened during the Republican race for the nomination, as his opponents ganged up on him, will happen again with more force and vigor — from Obama, Axelrod, et al.

When the attacks on Romney come, and they are already starting, will he fight back by raising issues like Jeremiah Wright or Frank Marshall Davis? Karl Rove is advising Romney not to call Obama a socialist or left-winger. This is a strategy for losing, in my opinion. It is certainly not a strategy for a CONSERVATIVE victory.

I understand why conservatives want to think this is a Romney win. Some would like to think that he has "turned it around."  Think again. Romney is NOT an authentic conservative. He only played one on TV, and it was an uneven performance at best, punctuated by repeated talk of working with liberals, like he did in Massachusetts.

Up against a real conservative, a Reagan conservative, the Marxist Obama would be labeled as a Marxist.  That is not to be in this campaign, which works to Obama's advantage.

Feel free to disagree. But I believe I should offer you my honest opinions, after 30 years of watching these political battles in Washington, D.C.

Obama is not your ordinary liberal politician. Do not underestimate him. He is determined to win at any cost. Romney doesn't seem to know what he is really up against.
