Group Urges Official Probe of Bill Ayers and the University of Illinois

A public policy group investigating how communist terrorist and Barack Obama associate Bill Ayers got his teaching job at the University of Illinois will be holding an August 20 news conference in Washington, D.C. to release its findings.

The news conference, sponsored by America's Survival, Inc. (ASI), will follow the release of a report this week from a state panel investigating how hundreds of students were admitted into the university because of what the Chicago Tribune calls their links to "powerful patrons, including elected officials, trustees and donors."

"But how did Bill Ayers get his job?" asks ASI President Cliff Kincaid. All signs point to his rich father, Thomas Ayers, who was CEO of Commonwealth Edison and a major power player in the Chicago establishment. Thomas Ayers sat on the board of the Tribune Company, which publishes the Tribune, and the board of Northwestern University, where Bill Ayers' wife and fellow terrorist Bernardine Dohrn got a teaching job.

Kincaid disclosed today that he has filed several state Freedom of Information Act requests for information relating to how Ayers got his job and tenure at the university. Kincaid associate and Professor Mary Grabar has analyzed some of the results, noting that a Freedom of Information request for his tenure review process "produced only blank forms with a cover letter stating that such information cannot be released 'unless the disclosure is consented to in writing by the individual.'" More information will be forthcoming at the August 20 event.

Kincaid did reveal that one of his Freedom of Information Act requests resulted in the disclosure of a syllabi for an Ayers course entitled, "Social Conflicts of the 1960's." Kincaid reports that, "Two of the three pages are a diatribe, mostly against the U.S. policy of resisting the communist conquest of South Vietnam." Kincaid commented, "It's not exactly clear how students were supposed to be graded for taking this 'seminar.'" Ayers concludes the course description by saying, "Show up or be doomed," and that if you want to bring your children to the class, that's "fine."

The ASI President released a copy of the letter he has sent to Illinois Governor Pat Quinn asking for a state probe into whether Ayers got his job through undue influence exercised by his father or others. The letter is available at

The August 20 conference will be held at the National Press Club in the First Amendment Lounge, beginning at 12:30 p.m. Admission is free of charge but reservations are requested by calling 443-964-8208 or emailing and leaving your name, affiliation, and telephone number. The National Press Club is located at 529 14th St. NW, 13th Floor, Washington, DC 20045.
