Dear Friend of America's Survival:

I don't think the injured younger brother terrorist will be of much use to the authorities. This alleged "enemy combatant" was a pawn and a dupe. Several reports quote fellow students as saying that Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was a "pothead." So he may have been suffering from mental illness. He was certainly easy to command and control. The older brother, Tamerlan Tsarnaev, who was killed, is the key. He went to Russia.

Keep your eyes on the big picture. Just as I feared:

Let us try to clear up something about the FBI's interview with the older dead brother terrorist. This was reportedly done in 2011 — before he went to Russia for six months. At this point, the FBI may not have had any indication that he was sympathetic to radical Islam. Apparently, however, the Russians had some inside knowledge of his activities. The Russians, if they had asked the FBI to look into the matter, may have been testing the FBI to see what the FBI knew.

That Moscow now has something to hide is reflected in the Russia Today (RT) propaganda broadcast with the mother that her sons were controlled by the FBI or "set up." RT wouldn't run this interview unless it served the interests of the Kremlin.

This doesn't mean the FBI is in the clear. There should have been FBI follow-up with the brother after he returned from Russia in 2012 and began posting Jihadist videos on YouTube (note: the YouTube user's identity is not confirmed but the name of Tamerlan Tsarnaev is on the account). Congress must investigate this aspect of the matter.  Was this a failure? Or something else?

Another possibility is that there was follow-up, and that the FBI thought they had recruited the older brother to be an informant and that he betrayed the FBI, becoming in effect a double-agent. He may have told the FBI that he could provide information about terrorist groups. Instead, he used his freedom of action as an FBI informant involved in Jihadist activities to carry out the Boston massacre. This might mean that the FBI was aware of his identity and activities in the area and help explain why he was singled out so quickly in the surveillance footage. Somebody in the FBI may have recognized him.

Another similar case was a former U.S. Army sergeant, Egyptian-born Ali Mohamed. He was a trusted FBI informant but was actually working for al Qaeda. Reed Irvine wrote a piece about this called "Bin Laden's Military Mole." It can be easy to fool U.S. intelligence agencies.

If this is what occurred, it would be another case of gross FBI incompetence, similar to their failure to pursue al Qaeda's involvement in sending the post-9/11 anthrax letters.

On the other hand, Moscow may have withheld information from the FBI about the activities of the older Tsarnaev brother in Russia and his contacts with terrorist groups. In short, he could have been turned into a covert Russian agent operating in the U.S.

In any case, it's crazy to cooperate with Putin and Russia, unless they come clean about KGB influence over terrorist groups and al Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri. And that will never happen because they have too much to hide. It wasn't too long ago, in the 1980s, that I was covering President Reagan's battle to undercover and expose Soviet sponsorship of international terror networks. These networks didn't go away just because Soviet-style communism "collapsed."

One of those groups, the Palestine Liberation Organization, was run by Yasser Arafat, a Soviet KGB agent. Read about that in Konstantin Preobrazhensky's report, Communists and Muslims: The Hidden Hand of the KGB. We have re-posted that report to our home page www.usasurvival.org

My bet is that Putin knows where al-Zawahiri is hiding.

Now, however, Obama is thanking Putin for his "cooperation" in counter-terrorism. A White House statement says Obama "praised the close cooperation that the United States has received from Russia on counter-terrorism, including in the wake of the Boston attack. The two leaders agreed to continue our cooperation on counter-terrorism and security issues going forward."

Think about it: if the older brother was in Russia and involved with terrorist groups there opposed to Russian rule, why didn't the Russians arrest him? Why did they let him leave Russia?

These are the questions that should be on the agenda. Instead, both CNN and Fox and other media are still wondering what his motive was.

IT WAS JIHAD, for crying out loud. These people and their backers want to kill us.

As Pamela Geller says, "Why does the media cover up, obfuscate and mislead the American people on the gravest national security threat this nation faces? Why does the enemedia viciously attack anyone who is brave enough to suffer the libel, defamation and death threats that follow speaking out against jihad and sharia? The enemedia is disarming the American people, inevitably leading sheep to slaughter. The jihadists told us why. What's it going to take?"
