Dear Friend of America's Survival, Inc.: My son Christian tied for 51st in the Scripps National Spelling Bee. We are very proud. Many thanks to Scripps for sponsoring this competition. Also, special thanks to Southern Maryland Newspapers and the Calvert Recorder for sponsoring the County Bee: Here we are when Christian won the Calvert County (Maryland) Spelling Bee title and won the opportunity to go on to the National Spelling Bee:
I have been blessed with a great family. A strong family is the backbone of a strong nation. Thank God for our many blessings. Here is Christian at the National Spelling Bee banquet dinner with his brothers Curtis and Clifford: Here's Christian with the National Spelling Bee champion Snigdha Nandipati:
Her winning word was "guetapens." I have been so impressed with the Indian-American families at the Bee. Snigdha Nandipati is the fifth Indian-American in a row to win the Scripps National Spelling Bee. Here is Christian with the official pronouncer of words Jacques Bailly: Bailley was the 1980 champion of the Scripps National Spelling Bee and now serves as the official pronouncer of the Bee. This is a case where a national journalism company, Scripps, is doing a tremendous public service. Let us encourage our young people to strive for intelligence and excellence.
