INDIVIDUAL NEWS
Carlos Davila's work selected for Silvermine's Art of the Northeast is Magenta I  (2017, oil on linen canvas, 84"x72," detail at right, click for complete diptych). This piece is actually half of a diptych and part of a series that explores color, form, and texture. The work has a heavy impasto texture. Each part of the diptych is 84" x 72". Art of the Northeast opens Sat. June 8, 6-8pm.
Carol Nipomnich Dixon’s embroidery on felt entitled Meanderings (2016, 13x13” framed) was juried into the Greenwich Art Society’s Peripheral Vision show at the Flinn Gallery of the Greenwich Library through July 10. Darol comments that the wandering colored threads using a variety of stitches ramble through a grey and white background landing on the edge of a circular field.
Michael David Kozlowski  also has a piece in Silvermine's Art of the Northeast. Depth (2017, oil, acrylic and spray paint on canvas, 74"x70", detail at right, click for complete image) is his first larger work this year. Come see it at the opening, this Sat. June 9, 6-8pm.
Cindi Mullins has a solo show, Blooms in Light at Norwalk’s Sidewalk Gallery through July 23. At right Resilience (2017, oil on board, 20”x30.” click for larger image). As co-owner Jennifer Hunter points out "Many do floral paintings, (and fine works they are), but Mullins artist paints a “life energy” into each piece."  Since Sidewalk Gallery’s exhibits are specifically meant to be viewed from the sidewalk, Jennifer selected some of Cindi's larger, tightly focused pieces, "so people can hopefully get that breath of energy even as they move by."
Jill Nichols' Cuprous Luna (just sold) can be seen at American Waters juried exhibition at the Lyme Art Association (90 Lyme St, Old Lyme) through August 25. Jill also has two of her cloud paintings works that were juried into Manhattan's Blue Mountain Gallery's Small Works Invitational show, opening Thurs July 13, 5-8pm (530 West 25 St). The two works are Remaining in Glory (2017, oil on copper, 7"x7," at right) and its companion Deep Scarlet.
Phyllis Sinrich is participating in Loft Artists Association's Member exhibition Lyrical Images, on view until July 23 at 575 Pacific Street in Stamford. Each work was inspired by the lyrics of a song and is accompanied by a “recordable card” label that plays the tune that inspired the work. Phyllis' photograph, You’re So Vain (2017, 24”x20” at right, detail; click for larger image), got its inspiration from the Carole King song of the same name.
