Artists' residencies (artists' communities, colonies, retreats, workspaces, and studio collectives) provide dedicated time and space for creative work. These creative communities provide artists of all disciplines many different styles and models of support, in urban or rural areas, serving from one artist to 50. Some are active centers for public programs and others offer solitude and retreat. Many provide room and board as a home-away-from-home; others offer not a place to live, but a community for local artists to work and be supported in the creation of new art.

Come to this free program at Silvermine Arts Center and hear first from NYFA's Felicity Hogan about the range of residencies available from someone who has run one, experienced several and has advised many about. Then hear from colleagues Liz Leggett, who has enjoyed many residencies both abroad and locally (including most recently a second stay at Weir Farm), Susan Newbold, who has benefited from 7 residencies (4 in France and 1 in New Zealand), and Jay Petrow, who just returned from a residency at the Virginia Center for Creative Arts.

Afterwards mix and mingle and get to know one another. Free to all - but please register so we know how many to expect! Questions? Email us here: david@culturalalliancefc.org
