John E. Jones Lifetime Excellence Award Ceremony
Dinner & Ceremony
All alumni are welcome to join the chapter and alumni association on Tuesday April 8th at 6:30pm at the PIKE house at 2313 Sheridan Road in Evanston for the inaugural John E. Jones Lifetime Excellence Award dinner and ceremony. This year's recipient is Brother Chris Rones, a 1946 Gamma Rho initiate. The chapter and alumni association are proud to present the award to Chris who has given an incredible amount to Gamma Rho over the last 65+ years since his initiation.

Mr. Chris Rones graduated from Northwestern University in 1947. He is a proud member of Gamma Rho and fraternity brother contemporary of John Jones. Mr. Rones has many vivid memories of the good days at the old fraternity house at 566 Lincoln Street. Mr. Rones began the alumni First Friday Lunch Club, consisting of his Gamma Rho brothers living in the Chicago area. Then in the 1990's, some of the younger alumni joined the Lunch Club, followed by inviting the active chapter members. So Mr. Rones is responsible for connecting all the classes of Gamma Rho, keeping our history thriving.

For this we celebrate Brother Chris Rones and all he does for us. On April 8, 2014, we will present a plaque to him commemorating his achievement.

Dinner will be served at 6:30pm followed by an award presentation. A tour of the new house will also be given following the presentation.

Please RSVP by Monday April 7th at 5pm on either the Facebook Event or to PikeGammaRhoAlumni@gmail.com.

PIKE Raise Over $88,000 for Dance Marathon
This year, Pike once again shattered previous philanthropy totals by raising over $88,000 along with the women of Kappa Kappa Gamma. The 40th anniversary Dance Marathon was certainly one for the ages as the entire student body raised almost $1.4 million for Team Joseph and the Evanston Community Foundation.

Team Joseph, founded around the fight of a young child with Duchenne muscular dystrophy, funds cutting edge research to find a treatment or cure for Duchenne. Duchenne is the most common degenerative genetic muscle disease, affecting 1 boy out of every 3,500. It is a fatal disease, and the life expectancy for those afflicted is in the early 20s. There has never been a treatment or cure, but scientists are closer than they've ever been; there’s real hope. There is potential for this to be the last generation to die of Duchenne or the first to survive. Dance Marathon hopes to make the latter become a reality.

CONGRATS MEN!!!!!
In Memory of John Jones
It is with great sadness to hear that one of Gamma Rho's greatest members has passed away and will join his brothers in Chapter Eternal. John Jones ('47) was a lifelong supporter of Gamma Rho as well as the Fraternity as a whole serving in countless leadership roles over the years. He served as Chairman of the Glenview State Bank and Cummins Allison and was very involved with the village of Glenview and numerous charitable organizations. A fantastic memorial page highlighting John and his family can be found here. Our deepest condolences go out to John's family and his fellow PIKE brothers that knew him well. A memorial fund and annual John E. Jones Lifetime Excellence Award is currently being created in his honor with help from the Alumni Association, Garnet & Gold Scholarship Fund, and the active Chapter.
