Fall Quarter Recap
Gamma Rho hosted another fantastic Thanksgiving dinner a week before the "real" Thanksgiving. Over 90 brothers and freshman attended the dinner which included glazed ham, mashed potatoes, stuffing, asparagus, salad, pumpkin & pecan pie, and of course turkey. The alumni association's homecoming event at Chicago q was terrific. About 40 alumni and friends came together and enjoyed an premium BBQ dinner and a full cocktail bar. A big thanks to all those that attended.

The chapter's flag football IM team went undefeated in the regular season earning the #1 seed going into the playoffs. The team maintained its undefeated streak and won the championship game 7-0 on a TD catch by Zack Smetana ('12).

The Chapter is gearing up for Dance Marathon which starts on March 6th (full story below).

Additional photos can be seen on the Chapter's flickr account here.

Chicago PIKE U
Gamma Rho alum, Jeff Smith ('89), gave the keynote leadership lecture at the Chicago PIKE U conference in early February focusing on the importance of unique perspective and thinking. Jeff founded Clarity Consulting in 1994, along with fellow Gamma Rho, Craig Goren. Headquartered in Chicago, the software development company has grown to more than 120 employees with offices in Seattle, San Diego and Rijeka, Croatia. Clarity is a seven-time recipient of the Inc. 500/5000 Award for the country’s fastest-growing companies and a four-time winner of Chicago’s 101 Best and Brightest Companies award. Prior to founding Clarity, he worked for several start-ups across a wide range of industries including real estate, healthcare, and biomedical engineering. Jeff is a founder of Clarity Ventures, Clarity’s venture capital spin-off, funding several start-ups.

In 2012, Jeff co-founded Truth Labs, an award-winning visual and industrial design agency whose work won the 2013 South by Southwest Interactive Festival’s Best in Show award-the highest award given. In addition to his work at Clarity and Truth, Jeff co-founded For the Fallen, a not-for-profit organization providing gap grants and financial counseling to armed service members wounded in Iraq and Afghanistan. Jeff works with several Chicago-area schools in their efforts to promote STEM education and creative thinking to elementary and high school students. Jeff regularly works with undergraduate innovators and entrepreneurs through Northwestern’s InNUvation/EPIC initiative and the University of Chicago’s CCIB program. Gamma Rho is very proud and thankful for Jeff's contribution to Gamma Rho and the Fraternity!!

His favorite PIKE experience was attending the Chicago PIKE U leadership summit with his entire pledge class. His favorite PIKE memory is from DM, specifically the final 3 hour block of the 30 hour event where the fundraising checks are presented to the beneficiaries. He will be participating in his 3rd DM next month.
Dance Marathon 2015
Northwestern’s annual 30 hour Dance Marathon has been an integral part of the PIKE Gamma Rho experience for the past 5 years . Teaming up with Kappa Kappa Gamma we've raised money for B+ Foundation, the Danny Did Foundation, Team Joseph, and this year we’re raising money for the Starlight Children’s Foundation, an organization that seeks to improve the quality of life for children forced to spend most of their lives in hospitals. Last year we raised over $90,000 for Team Joseph, and this year we are excited to put our efforts toward helping Starlight improve the lives of children around the country. Through our fundraising efforts and donations we hope to break our team total from last year and help NU hit a university total of $1.4 million! If you would like to donate to our team you can go to the PIKE team page here. All donations are appreciated. Go Cats!
