Hi Friend,
It is with great regret that due to the novel coronavirus emergency, we are canceling our World Water Day (No Such Thing As A Free Lunch, Free Lunch) event. We collaborated with local leaders and gave a great deal of thought to this decision. At our core, we are an organization dedicated to the health of people and communities. And the novel coronavirus threatens the health of our local community. We want to thank those, especially our volunteers, who have given so much to plan and organize our event.
The Free Lunch event is one of our most important fundraising efforts of the year. And this year we planned to talk about one of the most important topics of our generation: Climate Change. The event may be canceled but our work will continue. Because there is no break from Climate Change. Especially for marginalized and disadvantage communities. They bear the most impact with the fewest resources. Their dry seasons are dryer and their rainy seasons less predictable and shorter. And changes to their limited water supply make infectious disease outbreaks worse. Especially outbreaks from waterborne diseases like Cholera or Typhoid.
One of the most effective ways to prevent the spread of infectious diseases, like the novel coronavirus or Cholera, is to wash your hands. But how do you wash your hands in Umaria or Monze or Minova without clean water? Sometimes without access to any water? And without soap? You don't, unless you have access to water catchments and BioSand Water Filters and (Friendly) Soap. Together, we make available these life-saving technologies to those who need them most.
In lieu of our event, we hope that you will consider making a donation today. A donation for clean water, for healthy families and children, and for more climate-resilient communities. $50 for a BioSand Water Filter buys health, security, and protection. The work you make possible is more important than ever. You can give by clicking the button below, calling us at 360-214-3145, or by mailing your donation to 1421 W Bay DR NW, Olympia, WA 98502.
We wish everyone good health and clean water.
