Today let's celebrate the birthright citizens and those who chose this country and were naturalized immigrants, who fought and died alongside one another to build and defend this country. Whether they volunteered or were drafted, let's all take a moment to remember them this day as you barbecue and enjoy different military celebrations. Their sacrifice is why we are free today, because the dirt didn't ask anyone for a birth certificate. It just received them.
My family and close friends have served, and some still serve; it's part of a long, beautifully mixed line of Americans who answered the call from every corner of the world. That's the country we live in.
